    yay!
  • John Hewitt · 4 months ago
Much better. My anger has subsided.

I am wondering why switching accounts still has to be so complicated? I am sure that I am not the only one with more than one account she wants to post to, currently that is near impossible (and the sidebar does not even have the option). A one click interface for that like hootsuite does would be great. I can understand why you don't have the scheduling part, but such hassle to go through for switching the users is not really working. :(
  • lehrblogger · 4 months ago
Do you mean switching Twitter accounts or switching bit.ly accounts? There should be a drop down menu right below the Share box from which you can choose one of the multiple Twitter accounts you have added to your account. We're thinking of streamlining that interface a little more as well, and that's a great suggestion for the sidebar. You might want to check out our UserVoice suggestion forum at http://bitly.uservoice.com/

Nope I meant the twitter accounts I sent that to. Try posting about 20 links in 3 accounts every day without going nuts over having to click, wait for the dropdown, switch and click okay. that is way too many.

    Added the entry here http://bitly.uservoice.com/pages/5239-suggestio...

As working in batch is much easier (i use that for example with @m140z where i do post links around twitter), scheduled tweeting would be next. ;)

When adding twitter accounts, make a list appear with checkboxes. When a user logs in, he can check boxes for accounts he wants to post to. This decision is remembered between logins. So he can check or uncheck whatever he wants. Posting saves the decision and remembers it. Have a check all and uncheck all options at the bottom and/or top. Have a disclaimer that mentions that hitting the Post button will save her choices.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions! We'll definitely keep them in mind for future UI revisions.
  • Joshn · 4 months ago
Check boxes would be good! That way if posting to 3 accounts you don't have to copy and paste and click buttons.

Thanks for bit.ly I just switched from Budurl based on super review at http://bit.ly/6JVM4 .

    1. When I use biy.ly on Tweetdeck I don't see the stats at http://blog.bit.ly? Does it take a while or am I using it wrong?
    2. Is there a way to save the Tweet (with full description) so I can weet aain later.

    Thank you,
    Robin

    I'm glad you're enjoying bit.ly!

    1. bit.ly links that you create with TweetDeck won't be added to your history because there is currently not a way for you to integrate your bit.ly account with TweetDeck. You can still track those links by adding a "+" to the URL, but if you want stats for your specific links you can shorten them on http://bit.ly and copy-paste them into TweetDeck, or you can just post to Twitter right from the site.

    2. Not currently, but feel free to chime in with the others who have requested this feature on our UserVoice suggestion forum at http://bitly.uservoice.com/

It works very smoothly now, which sort of astonishes me, with so much to keep track of. Thanks!

How can I have more clicks and how can I monitor my traffics.
  • lehrblogger · 4 months ago
You can monitor the number of clicks on any bit.ly link by adding a "+" to the end of the URL - so http://bit.ly/apidocs will have its info page at http://bit.ly/apidocs+

For additional monitoring of all traffic to your website, you might want to try other complimentary analytics tools such as http://chartbeat.com and http://www.google.com/analytics/

I keep getting a notice that my Twitter information is incorrect even though I have checked it over and over and I am submitting accurate information.
  • lehrblogger · 4 months ago
Which submitted information are you sure is accurate? To remove or re-add your Twitter account to your bit.ly account, simply follow these steps:

    1. Log in to your Bit.ly account.
    2. Click on the account link in the upper right corner by your Bit.ly username.
    3. Click under Linked Accounts - REMOVE button.
    4. To re-add the Twitter account to your Bit.ly account, fill in the username/password fields and click the ADD button.

Is it possible to see how many clicks (overall) for a certain time period... not just the last hour as is shown on the home page? I know you can for individual links. But if I want to see everything clicked on today, can I?
  • lehrblogger · 4 months ago
We don't currently offer statistics across multiple bit.ly links, but I think that's something other people have asked for on our UserVoice suggestion forum at http://bitly.uservoice.com/

We do offer statistics for a single link across multiple time periods - check out the "Now", "Past Week", "Past Month" and "Total" sections of the graph on the info page for any link.

How do I get to the Bento Box? I'm a new user (just started today) and am trying to discover how to add a custom name, but don't see it anywhere. I do own Bento, if that helps.
  • lehrblogger · 4 months ago
Bento box should just be integrated into the current front page at http://bit.ly - try clearing your browser's cookies and cache if you don't think you are seeing it. If you do see it, click the "Show Options" link just under the "Shorten" button to see the options for adding a "Custom Name" and sharing your link on Twitter.

Feel free to email us at support@bit.ly, and enjoy!

I only joined bit.ly today, so I never saw the old version. Let me ask my question another way: I publish my blog with iWeb, so the page titles unfortunately all come up the same, and I haven't yet found a way to change that. So what I'm trying to do is to change the page title in the bit.ly list. For example check out this page:
    http://www.originalgreen.org/OG/Blog/Entries/20...
iWeb titles the page as "the Original Green," which is the title of the entire site, but I want to use "Miami 21" as the title instead on my bit.ly link. Otherwise, everything on my bit.ly home page that links to the blog has the same title. Is there a way to do this?
  • lehrblogger · 4 months ago
ah, I see now - there isn't currently a way to do that, but a number of other people have requested the feature on our UserVoice suggestion forum at http://bitly.uservoice.com/. We'll try to implement that sooner if more people ask for it there.
  • Dan Cass · 4 months ago
I'm loving the basic service, the look and the price is right!

But - how do I quickly, easily search through my links? I've had some trouble with the search box - am I doing something wrong?
  • lehrblogger · 4 months ago
What sort of problems are you having with the search box? Is it not working? Or is there functionality you'd like to have that we don't currently offer? If it's the latter, feel free to request the feature on our UserVoice suggestion forum at http://bitly.uservoice.com/

    Thanks for using bit.ly!

Really want to use bitly, but your software refuses to accept my Twitter account data is true and accurate. Can you please fix this so I can use Bitly?
  • lehrblogger · 4 months ago
Sorry you're having trouble - what error message are you getting back? What browser are you using when you attempt to enter your Twitter username/password? Have you tried clearing your cookies and cache?
  • Totanaca · 4 months ago
    Hi thanks for the response.
I use Firefox 3.5 (latest updates) The problem is not entering username/password. The problem comes when I try to Post. Then I get an error message saying:

The Twitter password you saved on bitly is no longer valid for your Twitter account.

There is an additional bit of info. I use a utility to manage passwords with the many web sites that I visit. It is called SignupSheild. I might try leaving it inactive and see what happens.

I did some research on firefox and found out how to delete cookies by site. Wish I had known about this before. I blasted every conceivable cookie that might have been a problem and started over. I think things are working now. Thanks much for the tip.
